The Regular Meeting of Mayor and Council was held on July 2, 2013, in the Blue Springs City Hall, Blue Springs, NE.


PRESENT: Mayor Meyer, Council members Mewes, Neumann, Reedy, Wolf


ABSENT:

OTHER ATTENDEES: Employee Mike Pike, Connie Mewes, Gage County Law Enforcement Officer Behrens

Notice of the meeting/hearing was given in advance by posting in at least three public places as shown by the certificate of posting placed on file. Notice of the hearing/meeting was simultaneously given to the Mayor and all members of the City Council and a copy of their acknowledgment of receipt and agenda are placed on file. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the advance notice to the Mayor and City Council of the hearing/meeting. Proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened hearing/meeting was open to public attendance.


At 7:30 PM, Mayor Meyer called the Regular meeting to order and roll call was taken. A motion was made by Council member Wolf, seconded by Reedy, and followed by a 4-0 affirmative vote to approve as sent the June 18, 2013 Regular meeting minutes. After review of claims, a motion was made by Council member Neumann, seconded by Reedy, and followed by a 4-0 affirmative vote to approve claims as follows: Direct Bank Payment - Internal Revenue Service (941) - $2,220.24; Salaries - $2,969.09; Arbor State - (Sports Poster Ad) - $79.00; Black Hills Energy - $19.83; Constellation Energy - $4.68; Eldon Izer - (Tel. Comp.) - $5.00; NE Dept. of Rev (941N) - $203.58; Norris Public Power - $1,294.55; Milton Pike (Tel. Comp.) - $25.00; Milton Pike (Health Ins. Comp.) - $426.38; Security First Bank (Pike - IRA) - $55.00; Shell - $378.84; Tom Wolf (Camera Reimb.) - $73.70; Wymore, City of (Tower/Individual) - $3,993.11; Wymore Oil Company - $214.43; TOTAL CLAIMS: $11,962.43.


CONTINUED PLANNING (AS NECESSARY) FOR ANNUAL CAR/TRACTOR SHOW: Chicken barbeque is arranged. Flyer changes are underway. Carousel is confirmed.


SPECIAL LIQUOR LICENSE LETTER FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR AUGUST STREET DANCE: Discussion, followed by motion by Council member Wolf; second by Mewes, and 4-0 affirmative vote to provide a statement of understanding and approval for the Blue Springs Fire Department to have a Special Designated License for the August 17-18 Street Dance.


CABIN OPENING (REMINDER ADS): Jan Morris will be at the cabin for visitors 7/4/13 - 10AM-3PM. Review continues for possible revision of initial visitation schedule, with possibility of changing dates, times.
Council member Wolf asked if the trench around the cabin is still on the work schedule after completion of the water main project, and Pike confirmed.


PLANNING & ZONING: No pending applications.


CLEAN UP, CURRENT ISSUES: Review continues. One property was added to the clean-up list for monitoring and further discussion at next Regular meeting.
