The Regular Meeting of Mayor and Council was held on May 19, 2015, in the Blue Springs City Hall, Blue Springs, NE.


PRESENT: Mayor Meyer, Council members Mewes, Neumann, Reedy

OTHER ATTENDEES: Employee Mike Pike, Connie Mewes, Gladys Cary


Notice of the meeting/hearing was given in advance by posting in at least three public places as shown by the certificate of posting placed on file. Notice of the hearing/meeting was simultaneously given to the Mayor and all members of the City Council and a copy of their acknowledgment of receipt and agenda are placed on file. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the advance notice to the Mayor and City Council of the hearing/meeting. Proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened hearing/meeting was open to public attendance.


At 7:30 PM, Mayor Meyer called the Regular meeting to order and roll call was taken. A motion was made by Council member Mewes, seconded by Neumann, and followed by a 3-0 affirmative vote to approve as sent the May 5, 2015 Regular meeting minutes. After review of claims, a motion was made by Council member Neumann, seconded by Reedy, and followed by a 3-0 affirmative vote to approve claims as follow: Bank-Direct - NE Dept. of Revenue (#10) - $294.57; Salaries - $1,841.31; Allied Insurance (Clerk Bond) - $100.00; Black Hills Energy - $23.08; Davidson Insurance (Audit Premium) - $199.00; One-Call Concepts, Inc - $4.45; Milton Pike (Reimb.) - $9.66; Security First Bank - (Pike IRA) - $55.00; Windstream - $67.66; Wymore Oil Company - $123.47; TOTAL CLAIMS: $2,718.20.

BALL DIAMOND ASSOCIATION: STREET CLOSING: A motion was made by Council member Neumann, seconded by Reedy, and followed by a 3-0 affirmative vote to allow closing Cherry Street the last weekend of May and the first weekend of June, per request of the Ball Diamond Association (to facilitate their activities).


PLANNING & ZONING: No new applications.

CLEAN UP: Several courtesy clean-up letters for tall weeds were determined. Several properties were designated for new posting or posting update for tall weeds. Employee Pike will call a property owner to discuss tall weeds and inquire about removal of planters. It was noted that one property will be cleaned up through “volunteer” assistance. Other properties were discussed but specific action was not taken at this time. Council member Neumann suggested monthly tally of mowed properties be kept in City Office, and Employee Pike will duplicate the record he keeps in the Shop for the Office record. Liens on properties for mowing will still be done at the end of mowing season.

Mayor and Council acknowledged the passing of Council member Tom Wolf , recognized his contribution to the Council and to the community, and extended condolences to family and friends.
