December 9, 2016
A Special meeting of Mayor and Council was called for the purpose of determining advisability and purchase authority cap for acquisition of a street sweeper.

PRESENT: Council members Carmichael, Mewes, Neumann, Reedy

ABSENT; Mayor Meyer

OTHER ATTENDEES:

At 5 PM, the Special meeting was called to order and roll call was taken.

Following statement of options: (Mewes - need mower more. 361 days of year sweeper would not be in use.) - (Carmichael - possible to pursue outside sweeping service.) - (Reedy - more streets paved now, more use for sweeper) - (Neumann - decent sweeper would be used more often), discussion to arrive at a purchase authority amount began: (Reedy - suggested $18,000; Mewes - suggested under $10,000; Carmichael - thought $5,000, but not outside the $8,000- $10,000 range and stated that getting one here would be a problem; Neumann - told that getting a good machine would be better than getting a cheaper one that could cost more in maintenance.

The current purchase prospect was discussed: 2007 Freightliner Street Sweeper (Gering Redi-Mix) on Purple Wave (auction ending Tuesday) , and which currently has a bid price of $5,800. Members suggested that Pike could go Monday to evaluate the sweeper.

Council member Reedy made a motion to set the purchase authority cap at $12,500. Neumann seconded it, and the vote was 4-0 affirmative.

Motion to adjourn: 5:30 PM - Carmichael. No objection.

The minutes of the Special meeting to be read and approved December 20, 2016.

Mayor: Lonnie D. Meyer (Special Session)

City Clerk: Katherine A. Roche (Special Session)
